General knowledge of installation, maintenance and repair of ball valve

Ball valve is a kind of universal valve widely used in the valve, with large usage and fast consumption. Therefore, reasonable maintenance can not only improve work efficiency, but also reduce maintenance time and replacement cost.

To make the ball valve stable and long life, the following factors need to be noted:

1. Before use, the pipeline and valve body overflow part shall be cleaned with water to prevent residual iron filings and other sundries from entering the valve body cavity.

2. When the ball valve is closed, there is still some medium left in the valve body, which also bears certain pressure. Before the maintenance of the ball valve, first close the shut-off valve in front of the ball valve, open the ball valve to be overhauled, and completely release the internal pressure of the valve body. In case of electric ball valve or pneumatic ball valve, the power and air supply should be disconnected first.

3. Generally, the soft sealing ball valve uses PTFE as the sealing material, and the sealing surface of the hard sealing ball valve is made of metal surfacing. If it is necessary to clean the pipe ball valve, it is necessary to take care to prevent leakage due to damage to the sealing ring during disassembly.

4. When disassembling the flange ball valve, the bolts and nuts on the flange shall be fixed first, then all nuts shall be tightened slightly, and finally firmly fixed. If some nuts are fixed by force first, and then other nuts are fixed, the gasket surface will be damaged or broken between flange faces due to unevenness of internal force, resulting in leakage of medium out of valve flange butt joint.

5. If the valve is cleaned, the solvent used must not conflict with the parts to be cleaned and be free of corrosion. If it is a special ball valve for gas, it can be cleaned with gasoline. Other parts can be cleaned with water. During cleaning, the residual dust, oil and other attachments shall be thoroughly cleaned. If they cannot be cleaned with clean water, they can be cleaned with alcohol and other cleaning agents without damaging the valve body and parts. After cleaning, the assembly shall be carried out after the detergent is completely volatilized.

6. If slight leakage is found at the packing during use, the stem nut can be tightened slightly until the leakage stops, and it is not allowed to continue tightening.

7. Long term outdoor storage will lead to corrosion of valve body and parts, which can not be used normally. The ball valve shall be rain proof, water-proof and moisture-proof when stored, and the flange cover shall be tightly covered. Valves stored for more than 12 months shall be retested during use to ensure stable performance.
